Field trip services are only available for OCPS schools,
Board-approved charter schools and local government agencies.

The following charges will apply for approved Field Trips:

  • The field trip rate for OCPS schools is $49.50 per hour for the bus and bus operator, plus $0.50 per mile. Time is calculated from the time the bus leaves the OCPS bus compound to pick up the group until the bus has returned to the OCPS bus compound after the final drop off.
  • There is a two hour minimum charge for drop-off and a two hour minimum charge for pick-up. Requests for drop-off and pick-up will be charged the greater of actual time or minimum for each leg.
  • Charter schools and non-school organizations will be charged $49.50 per hour for the bus and bus operator, plus $.50 per mile.
  • $18.00 per hour for a bus monitor.
  • Trip requests must be made at least 10 days in advance using the Field Trip Request Form (ET105). Service cannot be guaranteed for requests that are received with less than a 10 day advance notice. A $10.00 per hour late fee may be applied.

Requesting or Changing a Field Trip:

If you need to make changes or cancel a trip, please do so in writing using the Field Trip Change/Cancellation form ET122 or from the forms listed below. Trip cancellations must be emailed to the Field Trip Office at [email protected] two business days prior to the trip start-time. Any trip cancellation with less than two days' notification will result in a two hour minimum charge. (This does not include weather cancellations.)Please share this information with all staff members who are involved with requesting field trips.

Field Trips that require Safety Equipment:

If a student requires safety equipment, ensure that this information is included on your trip request. The specialized training for loading, unloading, and properly securing wheelchairs requires that a Bus Monitor from OCPS Transportation Services is used on all field trips when transporting students in wheelchairs.

School buses must return and unload at the originating school no later than 1:30 p.m. on regular school days (12:30 p.m. on Wednesdays). Buses are available weekdays after 4:45 p.m. (3:45 p.m. on Wednesdays), and all day on weekends and student holidays.
