Hurricane Dorian Updates
Wednesday, Sept. 4, 10:30 a.m.
Orange County Public Schools will reopen Thursday, September 5.
All student activities will also resume Sept. 5. Status of scheduled athletic competitions will be determined at the schools’ discretion with the exception of football. Freshman and JV football has been canceled and may be rescheduled. Varsity football will be moved from Friday night to Monday, Sept. 9. Elementary school open houses will be rescheduled.
The school make-up days, as pre-determined, are Friday, October 18, and Monday, November 25.
Any additional messages for OCPS families and employees will be sent by phone, email, posted here, or on district Facebook and Twitter pages.

Based on the current forecast OCPS plans to reopen schools on Thursday, September 5. Final notification will be posted tomorrow.
Should school resume as planned on Thursday, all student activities will also resume. Athletic competitions will be determined at the schools’ discretion with the exception of football. Monday, Sept. 2, 9:42 a.m.
All schools and work locations will remain closed on Wednesday, Sept. 4. All student and non-student activities are also cancelled.
Friday, Aug. 30, 12 noon
After closely monitoring Hurricane Dorian and in coordination with state and local officials regarding shelters, all OCPS schools and work locations will be closed on Tuesday, September 3 after the Labor Day holiday. We will determine any closures beyond Tuesday at a later time. Also, a reminder that all school campus activities, including non-student activities, occurring on Saturday, Sunday and Monday are also canceled. OCPS is continuing to work closely with the National Weather Service to monitor the storm.

Due to preparations needed for a potential
impact from Hurricane Dorian all school campus activities, including
non-student activities, occurring on Saturday, Sunday and Monday are canceled.
OCPS is working closely with the National Weather Service and local emergency
management offices to closely monitor the storm projections. While the forecast
can certainly change, at this point, it looks like there will be some impact on
Orange County. It is still too soon to determine the exact impact on our
schools.
Tomorrow, Friday August 30, we will update you about the status of
school for next week. Throughout the storm the district will send messages to
OCPS families by phone, as well as post updates on the OCPS website
and our district Facebook and Twitter accounts regarding school operations.
We will also keep you apprised of any plans regarding schools being used
as shelters.

OCPS is working with the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Melbourne and local emergency management offices to closely monitor Hurricane Dorian.
The district will send messages to parents by phone and update the website and social media pages regarding any impact to school operations.
Any changes in scheduling for school activities on Friday or Saturday will be announced within the next 24 hours.
OCPS families and staff should review their personal preparedness plan and supplies now to ensure readiness for the potential effects of this storm.
