Parent Academy walks parents through academic year

Steeped in rich history and academic achievement, Orange County Public Schools is excited to kick off its sixth year of Parent Academy. As an A-rated school district, OCPS knows parent involvement is paramount to student success.

Parent Academy Shield“Take a Walk Down OCPS Lane,” the first session for the new year, will help parents navigate their child’s needs throughout the school year. Classes include an overview of pre-kindergarten through fifth grade curriculum requirements, viewing their student’s coursework and progress in Canvas, logging into Skyward to access grades, and health and wellness education.


Sessions will also include resources for English Language Learners and Exceptional Student Education. Classes target audiences range from voluntary pre-kindergarten to senior year students/families – there’s something for every grade level. 

Parents can register before the event or on the day of the event. It is a FREE event Saturday, Sept. 14. Parents can attend several workshop sessions to learn from the experts on how to become full partners in their child’s education.

 

Parent Academy is Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, at Boone High School, 1000 E. Kaley St., Orlando, FL 32806, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

 

Parents can bring the whole family! Registration, a morning snack and lunch are free. Free Youth Academy for ages 4 to 18 is also available.

 

There are several ways to register. Parents can register electronically atwww.ParentAcademy.ocps.net, they can obtain a registration form from the main office of their child’s school, or call 407.317.3300. Registration is also available on-site the day of the OCPS Parent Academy.
