The School Board of Orange County held its regularly-scheduled board meeting at 5:30 p.m. at the Ronald Blocker Educational Leadership Center while also live streaming on the district’s YouTube channel. These are the highlights of the meeting:
School Board approves revisions to Code of Student Conduct for the upcoming school year
The purpose of the revisions to Policy JIC - Code of Student Conduct is to authorize procedures for disciplinary action and address the rights of students.
Revisions to the student dress code include:
•. A comprehensive requirement that is gender-neutral, objective, and detailed.
•. Clothing must cover the body from one armpit across to the other armpit and down to approximately mid-thigh.
•. Tops must have straps.
•. Undergarments must not be viewable.
•. Rips, holes, or tears in clothing must be below the knee.

School Board approves the Foundation’s Board of Directors
The Board approved the 2020-21 Board of Directors for the Foundation for Orange County Public Schools and recognized Ormend Yeilding for his 13 years of service to the Foundation. The Foundation for Orange County Public Schools was established in 1987 and is committed to providing schools and teachers the resources they need to help students succeed.

Board unanimously approves interagency emergency agreement
The School Board unanimously approved an
interagency agreement between Orange County Public Schools and Orange County Government, establishing the terms for emergency evacuation shelter operations to include facilities and equipment, management and staffing, coordination, and reimbursement during declared and non-declared disasters.
Board approves Wekiva High School’s Academy of Culinary Arts Magnet
School Board members approved the Academy of Culinary Arts Magnet at Wekiva High School for the 2021-22 school year. The program provides students with unique opportunities to work in a real-world culinary educational setting where students master industry skills alongside opportunities to learn STEM components of food preparation, operation of commercial equipment and supplies, as well as interpersonal skills for career success.
School Board renews district’s Mental Health Allocation Plan for the 2020-21 school year
To meet the social-emotional and mental health needs of students, school board members voted to approve the renewal of the Orange County Public Schools
Mental Health Allocation Plan for the upcoming school year.
Changes regarding administrative personnel
Superintendent Barbara Jenkins announced the following new administrators:
Melissa Kay Gordon, principal, Camelot Elementary
Antonio Roman, principal, Lakeview Middle
