At tonight’s rule development workshop and work session, Orange County School Board members reviewed changes to a number of school board policies. The purpose of these revisions is to assure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, Florida State Board of Education Rules, Board Policies, administrative rules, procedures and guidelines. The board also periodically reviews policies to promote transparency and accountability in the expenditure of public funds and the use of public resources. Board members were also provided an overview of
School Board Policies and the Administrative Procedures Act.
Policy revisions included in the presentation are:
Policy ADD – Safe Schools
Policy JIC – Code of Student Conduct
Policy JB – Equal Educational Opportunities
Policy IHAM – Local School Wellness
Policy IA – Student Progression Plan
Next steps: All proposed changes will move to a formal vote during the next regularly scheduled school board meeting on August 11, 2020.
