It’s Florida’s Severe Weather Awareness Week, Feb. 1-5. This week provides an opportunity for Floridians to learn about the various weather hazards that frequently impact the state and how families and businesses can prepare for these natural events.

All Orange County Public schools participate in severe weather drills throughout the month of January and facilities annually conduct safety drills to provide employees with hands-on instruction so they know what to do in the event of severe weather.

Each day of Florida’s Severe Weather Awareness Week focuses on a specific weather event. Click the links below to learn more about these weather conditions.

Monday 2/1– Lightning

Tuesday 2/2  – Marine Hazards and Rip Currents

Wednesday 2/3 – Thunderstorms and Tornadoes

Thursday 2/4  – Hurricanes and Flooding

Friday 2/5  – Temperature extremes and Wildfires
