Village Park ES being constructedNew elementary school in the Lake Nona area named for the 2021-22 school year
Village Park Elementary is the name for a new school located at 12253 Lake Nona Gateway Rd. in Orlando. The school relieves Eagle Creek and Laureate Park elementary schools. The board considered three possible names suggested by the community: Village Park Elementary, Village Walk Elementary and Watermark Elementary. The name Village Park Elementary was chosen because it represents the names of subdivisions zoned to the school. The school was previously known as site 43-E-SE-2.

School Board approves the naming of the Jones High School Media Center as the “Ronald O. Rogers Media Center”
Ronald O. Rogers was a proud graduate of Jones High School, class of 1969. He was a founding member of The 100 Black Men of Greater Orlando and a staunch supporter of his alma mater. Under Mr. Rogers’ leadership, The 100 Black Men of Greater Orlando has given over 1.5 million dollars in scholarship money to Jones High School graduates. Mr. Rogers spearheaded the program, Project Success, that creates cohorts of Jones students and supports them from freshmen year through college graduation. Upon his passing in 2020, Jones High School requests to name the media center after Ronald O. Rogers. The media center houses the Jones High School Historical Museum and is used by all students.

School Board proclaims April 28 as Denim Day recognized by OCPS
The purpose of the proclamation is to urge all employees and students to wear jeans on Denim Day to help spread awareness about the physical and emotional trauma that accompanies sexual assault, and to show support for survivors in our community. Denim Day is a designated day of international protest in response to the Italian Supreme Court’s overruling of a rape conviction in the 1900s. This is the proclamation.
