In its inaugural year, Edgewater High School’s Red Fins First Robotics Team competed in the national competition in Houston, Texas. The team earned Rookie Inspiration for its division - one of six teams in the world to win the award.

Marcus Robinson, the team’s coach, spent the first part of the year teaching the team members the First Robotics system. The team spent spring break competing in regional and state competitions in Tallahassee to earn a spot in the national competition.

A grant from Raytheon Technologies, via the NAF organization, provided the funds necessary to purchase supplies and contest entry fees. Continued support from Fund II grants (also via NAF), local First Robotics group, OCPS Career and Technical Education, Disney, Edgewater Foundation and Edgewater HS Advisory Council helped propel the team to national winner status.
