The Orange County Public Schools School-to-Work program has a twenty-five year partnership with Universal Orlando, which provides an alternative approach to traditional high school settings. Universal Education Center (UEC) is a School-to-Work program located on the grounds of Universal Orlando. UEC provides:

  • Smaller learning environments with individualized academic instruction
  • A daily school schedule that is divided between academic and work
  • Workforce readiness skills and practical work experience
  • Summer school (students earn one additional credit toward graduation - half academic credit and half elective credit earned)
  • A school-community business connection with a major employer

A Typical Day At School

The day is divided into morning (8-11am) and afternoon (12-3pm) sessions. The school day consists of an academic module and work experience within Universal Orlando while earning a paycheck.

Mentoring Program

The Mentoring Program is an important aspect at UEC.  A mentor is a successful employee within Universal Orlando management, who shares a broad range of work and life experiences.  An increased emphasis is placed on academic and occupational skills during the mentoring time with the student.  Mentors believe that one person can make the world a better place.

Program Highlights

Additionally, UEC offers the following benefits to students:

  • Student high school diploma will reflect the name of their home school
  • Students may participate in their home school events, i.e., Prom, Homecoming, and Graduation.
  • Scholarships available through Universal Orlando and other Post-secondary Education opportunities
