District Mental Health Counselors

OCPS is fortunate to have a team of 39 Licensed Mental Health Counselors to support our schools. Our team is comprised of 37 counselors assigned to our schools within the learning communities, and 2 counselors  providing support to our charter schools.

Our team supports our students and schools in a variety of ways. Including aiding schools in referring students for mental health services, provision of brief counseling services, conducting trainings on mental health topics, and attending various meetings where a mental health perspective or consultation is beneficial.

The Student Services school team members coordinate with SEDNET (The Multiagency Network for Students with Emotional Disabilities) to assist in linking students to community agencies for school-based counseling services. A comprehensive referral process was created to assist school personnel in accessing SEDNET providers. The following SEDNET agencies can provide counseling services at school for students in need based on funding and insurance.

Each School has a designated contact person to make referrals for mental health counseling, such as the Guidance Counselor, the Staffing Specialist, or the SAFE Coordinator. For more information about this process, please contact your child's school.
