Advanced Studies Programs
The Advanced Placement Program through the College Board offers college level courses at the high school level.  The AP Program currently offers 37 courses and exams.  The exams are graded on a scale of 1 to 5.  Many colleges and universities will exempt students from introductory courses based on demonstration of mastery in the subject with AP scores of 3, 4 or 5.
AVID is a 5th-12th grade system to prepare students in the academic middle for four-year college eligibility.  The core component is the AVID elective, which supports students as they tackle the most rigorous classes.  AVID's teaching strategies, curriculum, and trainings are used not only in the AVID elective classes, but by subject-area teachers schoolwide.
