Attendance Policies

The VPK Program funding is based on student attendance. In order for your child to be successful in VPK and prepared for Kindergarten regular attendance is necessary.

Absences

  • Notify your child’s teacher and front office staff when your child is going to be absent from school.
  • Illnesses resulting in absences longer than 5 school days requires a doctor’s note in order for the student to return to school.
  • Excessive unexcused absences (more than 5 days) may result in an attendance meeting.

Excessive Tardiness: Students dropped off late more than five times may be dismissed from the program.

Child Attendance and Parental Choice Certificate (Short Forms) - In order for your child to maintain his/her enrollment status in the Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Program, parent signatures are required to verify your child's monthly attendance. Child Attendance and Parental Choice Certificate Forms will be sent home with students at the end of each month. Please return the signed document the next school day.
