High School Paths

At OCPS high schools, students have a variety of experiences available that prepare them for post-secondary college and career success.

Advanced Placement Paths

Through Advanced Placement (AP) courses, OCPS students receive a college-class experience on their own high school campus. OCPS students could earn college credits while in high school. In May 2017, OCPS students saved close to $9.5 million in college tuition.

Academic Dual Enrollment Paths

Through Academic Dual Enrollment, OCPS students receive a college experience while in high school. Students can earn college credits and/or an associate degree while in high school.  Currently, OCPS students can take dual enrollment courses with Valencia College, University of Central Florida, and University of Florida.

Cambridge AICE Paths

Through the Cambridge AICE program, OCPS students receive an international education experience developed by the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.  Students could earn college course credits and/or the Cambridge AICE Diploma with the possibility of a Bright Futures scholarship to attend a Florida public university.  In May 2017, more than 81% of OCPS students taking a Cambridge course successfully passed the course exam.

Career and Technical Education Paths

Through Career and Technical Education, OCPS students receive various practical and relevant real-world experiences to guide them along their path to career and college readiness.  OCPS Students can earn industry certification and/or college credit. As of June 2018, OCPS students have 74 different industry certifications available to them through their high school and Orange Technical College.

International Baccalaureate Paths

Through the International Baccalaureate programme, OCPS students receive an international education experience that prepares them for college and beyond. Students could earn college course credits and/or the IB Diploma with the possibility of a Bright Futures scholarship to attend a Florida public university. IB graduates perform exceptionally well in college and typically outperform their non-IB peers. In May 2017, 92% of OCPS students taking an IB course successfully passed the course exam.

Magnet Programs Paths

Through magnet programs, OCPS high schools students have the opportunity to study specific academic areas.  Students from across the school district can choose a school and program of their choice. As of June 2018, OCPS has 22 high school magnet programs for students.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Paths

Through programs and curriculum focused on developing science, technology, and mathematical thinking and skills, OCPS high school students are post-secondary STEM college course and careers.

Visual and Performing Arts

Through programs and curriculum focused on developing musical, dance, visual arts, and theatre skills, OCPS high students gain a universal language and new ways to communicate ideas.
