Principal Laura Suprenard

Greetings Panda Family,
As we continue with our intense focus on student achievement, it is essential that ALL of our students arrive to school on time. So that we can maximize the most of the learning day, instruction begins promptly at 8:15 a.m. Students arriving after this time are considered tardy and miss valuable instruction. I appreciate your assistance in ensuring that your child receives a full day of instruction by arriving to school on time and ready to learn.
SCE School Hours:
·         7:30- Doors Open/Breakfast Begins in Cafeteria
·         7:45 Students Dismissed from the Cafeteria to their Welcome Centers
·         8:05- First Bell Rings/Classroom Doors Open/Breakfast Ends in the Cafeteria
·         8:15- Tardy Bell/End of To Go Breakfast
·         3:30- Dismissal  (2:30 p.m. on Wednesday)
As always, thank you for your continued support.
Laura Suprenard
Principal of Shingle Creek Elementary

During the 2014 Legislative Session, a requirement was set by the state to add one extra hour of reading instruction to the regular school day at 300 Florida schools.  Our school is one of the 300 schools.  The Florida Department of Education identified these schools as the lowest performing in reading, based on the 2014 Florida Comprehensive Assessment (FCAT) scores.

Orange County Public Schools views this longer day as an opportunity for extended learning and believe this requirement will positively impact your child's academic performance.  The extended instructional time will start on the first day of school, August 18, 2014 and continue through the last day of school, June 3, 2015.  The student school day will begin at 8:15 A.M. and will end at 3:30 P.M. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.  The school day will end at 2:30 P.M. on Wednesday.
