 Welcome New Falcons! Freshman Student and Parent Orientation

Date: Tuesday, August 11th
Time: 9am (Students may begin arriving as early as 8:30am)-11:30
Location:  Gym for students, Performing Arts Center for the Parents
 
East River would like to welcome all incoming 9th grade students and parents to Freshman Orientation on August 11th.  Students will have the opportunity to tour the campus, learn about programs and activities, and hear current students talk about their experiences. 
While students are in their program, parents will be meeting in the Performing Arts Center to learn key points that will help guide their students through a successful first year of high school.  We will also be reviewing information regarding the new Lenovo laptops and digital curriculum for the school year.  Parents must sign two permission forms for their student to receive a laptop for the school year.  The required form is available on the school website, and will be accessible to all parents during freshman orientation. 
At the conclusion of the orientation portion students will also have the opportunity to pick up their new schedules, select lockers, and checkout any textbooks they may need along with their new Lenovo laptops (if parents have completed the required permission forms).  The links for the parent permission forms are on the school website located under “Digital Parent Forms”.  Parents can fill them out, print them, and turn them into the school at any of the orientation events.
 Digital Open House for all Parents
 
Date: Wednesday, August 19th
Time: 9-10:30am  OR  7-8:30pm (both sessions have the same information provided)
Location: Performing Arts Center
  
East River will be holding two sessions to inform parents about the new digital implementation for the 2015-16 school year. We will begin the night with a brief introduction in the Performing Arts Center, and then transition to classrooms.  Parents will hear from teachers about the new Lenovo devices and their care, how students will receive and submit assignments, and how they will access their online resources this year.  Parents will also have the opportunity to sign the technology agreement form and parent permission form for the laptop distribution.  Students will not be able to receive a laptop without both signed forms.  The new devices will be given out to students on the following schedule: Seniors on August 20th from 2-4pm, Juniors on August 21st from 9:30-11:30am, and Sophomores on August 21st from 1-3pm.  The school will also be open on Saturday, August 22nd from 9am-12pm for any student who was unable to make any of the earlier dates and times.

Senior Kickoff
Date: Thursday, August 20th
Time: 2-4pm
Location: Cafeteria
Students may report to the cafeteria to pick up their schedules, select a locker, obtain a parking decal, as well as check out any needed textbooks and their laptop.  (Parents must have completed the parent permission forms in order for a student to receive a laptop.) 
Welcome Back Juniors!
Date: Friday, August 21st
Time: 9:30-11:30am
Location: Cafeteria
 
Students may report to the cafeteria to pick up their schedules, select a locker, obtain a parking decal, as well as check out any needed textbooks and their laptop.  (Parents must have completed the parent permission forms in order for a student to receive a laptop.) 
Welcome Back Sophomores!
Date: Friday, August 21st
Time: 1-3pm
Location: Cafeteria
 
Students may report to the cafeteria to pick up their schedules, select a locker, obtain a parking decal, as well as check out any needed textbooks and their laptop.  (Parents must have completed the parent permission forms in order for a student to receive a laptop.)
 Additional Checkout Opportunity
Date: Saturday, August 22nd
Time: 9am-Noon
Location: Cafeteria
 
Students may report to the cafeteria to pick up their schedules, select a locker, obtain a parking decal, as well as check out any needed textbooks and their laptop.  (Parents must have completed the parent permission forms in order for a student to receive a laptop.)
