PSAT (NMSQT) – Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test

The PSAT measures verbal and mathematical reasoning skills. All 10th grade students take the PSAT in October. Students in 11th grade may take this test for an opportunity to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship. The assessment of verbal and mathematic skills on the PSAT is effective practice in the preparation for the SAT.

 

 

 
SAT – Scholastic Aptitude Test

The SAT is an objective test designed to measure how well students have developed their verbal and mathematical skills. It is recommended that 11th grade students take this test in the spring of their junior year, or fall of their senior year.

 

 
ACT – American College Test

The ACT is designed to assess high school students’ general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work. The tests cover four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading and science reasoning.

 

 
CPT – College Placement Test


Florida community colleges give the CPT to determine placement in remedial or regular college courses. The test was designed to measure verbal and mathematical skills. The CPT is a required component for admission to Valencia Community College.

 

 

 
ASAVB – Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery
The ASVAB measures mechanical, clerical, verbal and mathematic skills. This test is administered to juniors and seniors to help identify suitable careers and occupations.
 
TABE – Test of Adult Basic Education
The TABE measures skills in reading, mathematics, writing and English. A passing score on this test is required prior to admittance into a technical program.
