Matthew Swope is  Director of Choral Activities and Performing Arts Department Chair at Winter Park High School.
 
Matthew Swope serves as Director of Choral Activities and Performing Arts Department Chair at Winter Park High School. He conducts Park Singers, Concert Choir, Men’s Chorale, Wildcat Men’s Ensemble, Naughty Scotty and the Octapella, and Take 7. Mr. Swope also teaches AP Theory. In addition to his work at WPHS, he serves on the voice faculty of Rollins College.
 
A native of Pennsylvania, Mr. Swope received the Master of Music degree in Voice Performance & Pedagogy and graduated Phi Beta Kappa with undergraduate degrees in Music and in Classics & Ancient Mediterranean Studies from The Pennsylvania State University. In 2013, he was the recipient of Penn State’s “Outstanding Alumni Music Educator Award.” Choirs under Mr. Swope’s direction have performed for the Florida American Choral Directors Association (2011, 2015), Florida Music Education Association (2016), and at the International Championship of High School A Cappella Finals (2012, 2015). He has presented sessions for ACDA, FMEA, Florida NAfMe Collegiate, the Kettering National A Cappella Festival, and the Classical Association of the Middle West and South, and was chosen by audition to participate in choral conducting masterclasses with Simon Carrington and Jerry Blackstone. 
 
An active tenor soloist, Mr. Swope has performed nationally with the Simon Carrington Chamber Singers and has participated in voice masterclasses with Marilyn Horne and Dawn Upshaw. He serves as the Florida Representative for the A Cappella Education Association and is a member of ACDA, AEA, NAfME, FMEA, FVA, NATS, and Pi Kappa Lambda.
 


Joseph Kemper is the Associate Director of Choral Activities at Winter Park High School.

 

Joseph Kemper serves as Associate Director of Choral Activities at Winter Park High School. He conducts Belle Chanson, Concert Choir, Women’s Chorale, Cantabile, and Freshman Women’s Chorus. Under his direction, Belle Chanson was featured at the Florida American Choral Directors Association Fall Conference in 2013. Mr. Kemper is the Founding Artistic Director of the Winter Park Community Chorus, bringing together teachers, students, and families through choral music. In addition, he has served as Artistic Director of the Lutheran Cantata Choir in association with the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church Music Series and coordinator of the Orange County Public Schools All-County High School Honor Choir.
 
A native of Oregon, Mr. Kemper received the Bachelor of Music degree with academic distinction from St. Olaf College. He served as the assistant student conductor, president, and tenor section leader of the St. Olaf Choir under Anton Armstrong. Mr. Kemper also conducted a world-premiere oratorio with the St. Olaf Lyric Theater Department.
 
He has served as a staff member with the Oregon Bach Festival. Most recently, Mr. Kemper participated in the Conducting Master Class, studying under Helmuth Rilling, Matthew Halls, Edward Maclary, and Scott Jarrett. He is a member of ACDA, NAfME, FMEA, FVA, NCCO, and the American Bach Society.
