Meet Joan Terrell
Teacher Bio: I am a native Floridian and graduated from the University of Central Florida. My husband attended college there as well but we did not meet until years after graduation when we were back in our hometown of Winter Haven. We have two children a son and daughter, who are both in college now. On weekends, you can find me on my bicycle or kayaking on the Weikava River. I love to cook and am always trying new recipes. My favorite past time is reading! There is not a day that goes by that I do not fit in reading at some point. Reading is my passion and something that I try to instill in my students. I also teach night school classes for ESOL adults at Winter Park Vo Tech. ESOL is for English speakers of other languages. I enjoy meeting the people from other countries and learning about their culture and customs.

Class Goals and Expectations
Goals and Expectations I expect my students to be the best they can be and to rise up to their full potential. They need to be well rounded students, who grow socially as well as academically. I want them to have a successful year and be able to go into first grade with the confidence and the necessary skills.
--We will be a good listener.
--We will show respect for others.
--We will keep our hands and feet to ourselves.
--We will work as a team to make our classroom a great place to be!
--The students get a straw in the morning and one in the afternoon.
10 straws - treasure box
9 straws - Goody jar
8 straws – sticker
7 straws – verbal warning
6 straws – time out
5 straws or less – time out in the office (Parent will be notified.)
