Brave Family,

First, I want to tell you how excited I am to be a Boone Brave! I have been overwhelmed by the warm welcome
I have received and it is quite apparent that the Boone community is a special group of students, families,
educators, and community members. This will be a fantastic year, filled with rich tradition, academic success and
the beginning of a new era in Boone history. Our Brave staff is filled with talented educators, who are passionate
about preparing young adults to be productive members of a global society. We are here to serve students,
families, and the community on a daily basis. If for any reason we are not fulfilling this obligation, please contact
me directly.

So, who is Mr. Johns? I am a family man that is rooted deeply in my faith and firmly committed to educating
young adults. I have a beautiful and supportive wife, who is also an educator for Orange County Public Schools.
We have a wonderful and energetic three year old who is the center of our universe. Growing up, I was the
oldest of three children and the son of a fantastic mother and father. Our family is very close and continues
to be a source of strength in my life. My hobbies include golfing, fishing, reading the Sunday Newspaper, and
watching my favorite sports teams in action! (Buccaneers, Rays, Magic and Knights!)

I graduated in 2002 from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education.
I continued my education by earning a master’s degree in Educational Leadership at the University of South Florida.
These educational experiences opened the doors to begin my career in education as a Wellness and Physical
Education teacher at Corner Lake Middle, an Administrative Dean at Avalon Middle School, the Assistant
Principal of Instruction at Winter Park High School, and most recently the Principal of Freedom Middle School.
Being named the Principal of Boone High School has blessed me with the opportunity to return to the high
school setting where I first learned how to help young adults prepare for career and college readiness.   I look
forward to immersing myself in the Boone community and learning every piece of our rich traditions.

Gratefully,

Dusty Johns
