Linda Kobert is the OCPS School Board representative from District 3. She is one of the Founders of the Education Advocacy organization Fund Education Now, a parent group started right here in Orlando that advocates for better policies and funding for Florida’s Public Schools. She and her husband of 25 years are the proud parents of 3 children ranging in age from 8 to 23 who have all attended Orange County public schools. Linda is a small business owner and professional community supporter who over the past 10 years has established four non-profit organizations, including the creation of a private foundation for her neighborhood public school, The Alliance for Public Schools, and the neighborhood revitalization project, Downtown South. She successfully steered lobbying efforts to convert that school to a K-8 facility, helped parents establish uniform policies at various Orange County Public Schools and served as the Chairman of the School Advisory Committee and the Legislative Chair for Boone and Blankner schools. She received the Orange County Public Schools South Learning Community Volunteer of the Year for this work in 2006, the Florida School Boards Association Presidents’ Award in 2011, Blankner School’s Education Advocacy Award and the Orange County Public School Chairman’s Award in 2012. Last year, with her 2 partners, she was runner up for Central Floridian of the Year. Linda currently serves on the Education Committee for the League of Women Voters and was recently named to the Council of Valencia. Linda is a native Floridian and a graduate of Okaloosa County Public Schools and the University of Florida. Contact Linda at Linda.Kobert@ocps.net.
