Dr. Phillips Arts Center performance of "the Giver"

Every 8th grade student in OCPS was invited to attend a special performance of "The Giver" in the Walt Disney Theatre at the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center presented by the Orlando Repertory Theatre.

"The Giver" tells the story of Jonas, whose world is perfectly under control … until he turns 12. He is chosen to receive special training from “The Giver” and keep the memories of the community. “The Giver” is the only person who holds the memories of real pain and real joy. Now Jonas will learn the truth about life — and the hypocrisy of his utopian world. Through this astonishing and moving adaptation, Jonas discovers what it means to grow up, to grow wise, and to take control of his own destiny.

From the Newbery Award-winning book by Lois Lowry, Adapted by Eric Coble.

This is all made possible, thanks to a $200,000 donation from Walt Disney World Resort to United Arts of Central Florida.
