  • This event will be hosted on Facebook and YouTube Live.
  • Parents of middle and high school students gain information about career and technical education programs available at their school and how their child can enroll.

  • Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 6:00 P.M.
  • Parents will gain important information regarding the district and community resources that will help in times of need.

Virtual Mini-Academy: Historically Black College or University (HBCU) College Admissions Panel

  • Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 6:00 P.M.
  • High school students and their parents will meet admissions representatives and gain information from various Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)  throughout the country. Each HBCU will provide a brief overview of their school, then answer questions about their college/university.

  • Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 6:00 P.M.
  • Families will learn about the functions of behavior and effective strategies for intervening to achieve positive outcomes.

Virtual Mini-Academy: Valencia College Accelerated Skills Training

  • Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 6:00 P.M.
  • High school students and their parents gain information about Valencia College’s Accelerated Skills Training programs focused on intensive, hands-on training designed to help students obtain a career/skillset. This event will highlight information about the various programs, their requirements, and potential outcomes for students.

Virtual Mini-Academy: PCUF and You: Private Colleges and Universities of Florida Admissions Panel

  • Thursday, December 5, 2023 at 6:00 P.M.
  • High school students and their parents will meet admissions representatives from Florida’s Private institutions here in Florida. Each PCUF member will provide a brief overview of their school, then answer questions about their college/university.

  • Parents learn how to find the best school fit for their child using school transfers, magnet programs, alternative education programs and charter schools.

  • High school students and their parents will gain information about funding available to support students in paying for their education after high school. In the presentation, the various sources of financial aid will be discussed along with the major changes to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The OCPS Parent Academy is committed to making a sustainable impact on student success, parenting and advocacy and personal growth/wellness. Our goal is to empower, engage and educate families and caregivers by providing high-quality training sessions, resources and access to skills and services.

The OCPS Parent Academy offers district-wide, face-to-face Parent AcademiesLearn Where You Live events which take place in each learning community, and virtual Lunch & Learn events on Facebook Live.  

In addition to the OCPS Parent Academy events, there are monthly trainings held by the Curriculum and Digital Learning, Discipline, Exceptional Student Education, Multilingual Services, Professional Learning and Student Services departments for families.
