Restorative Practices aim to build a school culture that focuses on developing and maintaining relationships; thereby, reducing the suspension rate in middle and high schools students. Through, restorative practices all voices are heard as problems are addressed and solved. Restorative practices are effective in enhancing personal responsibility and empowering change and growth. The aim is to use Restorative Practices to decrease school suspensions among minority and other students for the three main infractions of disrespect, insubordination, and altercations. Restorative practices build community and promote healthy relationships among educators and students. It also teaches the social-emotional and conflict-resolution skills necessary to reduce conflict.
