Today the Florida Department of Education released student test scores for Grades 4 through 10 in English Language Arts, Grades 3 through 8 in Mathematics, Grades 5 and 8 Science, Algebra 1, Geometry, Civics, Biology, and U.S. History. This follows the June 14 release of Grade 3 ELA scores.
Overall in Florida, the percentage of students scoring Level 3 or higher decreased in all reported subjects and grade levels. In OCPS, students scoring Level 3 or higher stayed the same or increased in 3 of the 21 subjects and grade levels reported. The district’s overall percentage point decrease in students scoring Level 3 or higher was lower than the state’s overall decrease in 12 of the 21 subjects and grade levels reported.
“This data only partially represents an extremely difficult year for our schools. The data is still useful, as it informs instructional decisions for the new school year. Teachers and principals will evaluate student outcomes and determine how to accelerate learning,” Superintendent Barbara Jenkins said. "Given all that our students, teachers, principals and families have come through, I believe they have the resilience to ensure their future success."
The percentage of OCPS students scoring Level 3 or higher was above the state’s percentage in the following subject areas and grade levels:
- Grade 3 ELA
- Grade 7 Mathematics
- Grades 5 and 8 Science
- U.S. History
The percentage of OCPS students scoring Level 3 or higher was the same as the state’s percentage in the following subject areas and grade levels:
- Grades 6 and 10 ELA
- Grades 3 and 5 Mathematics
- Geometry
- Biology
The percentage of OCPS students scoring Level 3 or higher was below the state’s percentage in the following subject areas and grade levels:
- Grades 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9 ELA
- Grades 4, 6 and 8 Mathematics
- Algebra 1
- Civics
