This summer the district is offering voluntary opportunities for teachers and select classified employees to attend professional learning. Courses will be offered in June and repeated in July to create equitable opportunities for those teaching or supporting summer school. The delivery mode of the course is dependent on each offering, either face to face or live online sessions. Please read each description for details, including the intended audience for the courses.

  • June 7-25, 2021
  • June 28-July 23, 2021 (not including the week of July 5-9, 2021)

  • Summer offerings, available to view, will be posted on May 20, 2021.
  • Courses will be released for registration on May 24, 2021 at 4:00 PM in the Canvas PD Catalog. Registration is on a first come first serve basis for those eligible.
  • Teachers, paraprofessionals/program assistants, bus drivers and bus monitors will select courses appropriate to their positions and certifications, and complete the planning sheet. Click here for a copy of the planning sheet.
  • The planning sheet must have a signature of approval from the teacher’s principal or classified employee’s supervisor. A signature indicates the teacher or select classified employee is the intended audience for the courses requested and the supervisor supports completion. The planning sheet/principal verification form can be completed by you digitally and emailed to your principal who can print, sign, and send back to you for upload. The planning sheet does not have to be uploaded prior to registering for a course, but must be uploaded before the start date of the course.
  • If any courses are denied, staff must remove themselves from the course roster.
  • The signed planning sheet showing supervisor approval must be uploaded into the online course or physically brought to the face to face PD. There will be no access to a class without a supervisor signed approval for Summer PD. Teachers and select classified employees who are not the intended audience for the course will not be granted access.

Compensation – The professional development offerings below are the ONLY courses that will receive compensation. Compensation will be given after full completion of the course within the start and end dates.  The rate of pay for teachers is $20 per hour based on the negotiated rate of pay described in the CTA Contract, Article XVI, section D. The rate of pay for classified employees will be $12.20 per hour per completed course. Courses are at minimum three hours in length. Paraprofessionals/program assistants, bus drivers and bus monitors may only attend and be paid for up to 6 hours of courses per week.
