TEACHERS

This summer the district is offering voluntary opportunities for teachers to attend professional learning. Courses will be offered in June and July to create equitable opportunities for those teaching or supporting summer school. The delivery mode of the course is dependent on each offering, either face-to-face or live online sessions. Please read each course description for details, including the intended audience for the courses.

Dates – June 6-23, 2022; June 27-July 21, 2022 (not including the week of July 4-7, 2022)

Registration – Summer offerings, available to view, will be posted at http://summerpd.ocps.net on May 13, 2022. Courses will be released for registration on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. in the Canvas PD Catalog. Links to the listings in the catalog are available on the spreadsheet below. Teachers will select courses appropriate to their positions and certifications, and complete the Professional Development Planning Sheet, posted at http://summerpd.ocps.net. Registration is on a first come first serve basis for those eligible. The planning sheet must have a signature of approval from their school-based administrator. The signature indicates the teacher is the intended audience for the course(s) requested and the school-based administrator supports attendance and completion. If any courses are denied and not approved by the school-based administrator, the teacher must remove themselves from the course roster. The signed planning sheet showing supervisor approval must be uploaded into the online course or physically brought to the face-to-face PD. Course instructors will provide information on how to submit the planning sheet for each specific course. There will be no access to a course without signed approval from the school-based administrator. Additionally, teachers who are not the intended audience for the course will not be granted access.

Compensation – The professional development offerings on the http://summerpd.ocps.net website are the ONLY courses that will receive compensation. Compensation will be given after full completion of the course. The rate of pay for teachers is $25 per hour per completed course. Courses are at minimum three hours in length.

SELECT CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEES

The district is offering voluntary opportunities for select classified employees to attend professional learning. These select classified employees include paraprofessionals, program assistants, bus operators, and bus monitors. Courses will be offered in June and July to create equitable opportunities for those supporting summer school. The delivery mode of the course is dependent on each offering, either face-to-face or live online sessions. Please read each course description for details, including the intended audience for the courses.

Courses will be released for registration on Monday, May 23, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. in the Canvas PD Catalog. Links to the listings in the catalog are available on the spreadsheet. Space is limited on a first-come, first serve basis. Participants must complete the Professional Development Planning Sheet found at http://summerpd.ocps.net. The planning sheet must have a signature of approval from the employee’s supervisor or administrator at the employee’s worksite. A signature indicates the education support employee is the intended audience for the course(s) requested, and the supervisor or administrator at the worksite supports completion. The approved planning sheet must be uploaded into the online course or physically brought to the face-to-face course.

Compensation – The professional development offerings on the http://summerpd.ocps.net website are the only courses that will receive compensation. Compensation will be given after full completion of the course. The rate of pay is $13.50 per hour per completed course. Courses are at minimum three hours in length.
