Facilities’ Central Support Services department
held its secondsafety stand down demo annual Custodial Safety Stand Down June 5 , part of an effort to boost training and a sense of teamwork for the district’s 1,100 custodians. The event included sessions that provided new training opportunities, as well as recognition of the work of OCPS’ great custodial team. The Stand Down was held at Oak Ridge High School and included short speeches from OCPS officials, as well as prizes and giveaways. Classes touched on topics including inspections, environmental issues and best practices in classroom cleaning. Live demos were offered on removing floor finish and proper restroom cleaning. Department head Kevin Ballinger said the centralization of the custodial program has led to gains in cleanliness and efficiency district-wide.
