Dashboard Details

Important Notes:

After-hours data may not show on the dashboard until the refresh on the next business day. Data on the dashboard may lag behind school/department communications.

The dashboard was refreshed for the 2021-22 school year on August 2, 2021. The previous year’s dashboard has been archived and is available to view via a button on the current year’s dashboard.

Definitions:

Confirmed Case – An individual who has tested positive for COVID-19, confirmed with laboratory test results or via the Florida Department of Health in Orange County (FDOH-Orange), who has been on an OCPS campus this school year within 30 days of their positive test. These numbers are cumulative from the start of pre-planning for the 2021-22 school year on Aug. 2, 2021.

Identified for Quarantine – Students and employees whom FDOH-Orange has determined were exposed at an OCPS facility to a person who tested positive for COVID-19. FDOH-Orange communicates this information in a letter that is passed along to parents/staff by OCPS. OCPS does not determine who is identified to remain at home nor the length of time. Once the timeframe identified by FDOH-Orange is completed, it no longer shows on the OCPS dashboard.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. When does the dashboard update?
A. The dashboard updates each night at 11:59 pm.

Q. When will a positive test show on the dashboard?
A. Laboratory confirmed cases of individuals who have been on an OCPS campus in the previous 30 days will appear on the dashboard within 24-48 hours of reporting, once the case is confirmed.

Q. Who is included in the total confirmed cases?
A. OCPS employees, students, vendors and visitors are listed on the dashboard when their test results are confirmed if they have been on campus this school year within 30 days of their positive test. Home test kit results are not recognized by the Department of Health unless they have a telehealth component.

Q. If an individual is quarantined at home because their family member tested positive for COVID-19, does that individual show up on the dashboard?
A. No, quarantines that show on our dashboard are due to on campus exposure, not household exposure.

Q. Are confirmed cases also in quarantine?
A. No, FDOH-Orange classifies people who test positive as isolation cases, not as quarantined. Quarantines could be recommended to anyone who has been exposed to a contagious disease like COVID-19, but someone who is showing symptoms or has tested positive is told to remain in isolation. The OCPS Dashboard separates these numbers.

Q. There was a positive case at my school, but I don’t see any quarantines appear. Why is this?
A. FDOH-Orange may still be investigating the case or did not issue a letter to any close contacts. Starting Feb. 7, 2022, FDOH-Orange continues to investigate and may provide close contact letters when there are three or more lab-confirmed linked cases.

Q. I have questions about how contact tracing is conducted or quarantine decisions are made, who can I talk to?
A. The Florida Department of Health in Orange County (FDOH-Orange) conducts contact tracing and identifies individuals who were in direct contact, because schools and OCPS do not have this authority. If you have any questions about contact tracing, you may contact FDOH at407-723-5004.
