Saturday, March 26, Timber Creek High School’s FFA Veterinary Science team won the Career Development Event State Championship and will advance to the National FFA Convention and Expo in the fall. University High School placed fourth in the state.

Earlier in the school year, teams from across Florida competed in the CDE to earn a Top 20 placement for the opportunity to compete in the state championship.

Veterinary Science CDE provides students with an opportunity to develop and demonstrate knowledge and skills for both companion animals and livestock within the veterinary industry. Team members had to correctly identify breeds of companion animals and livestock, correctly identify veterinary tools and instruments and correctly perform veterinary skills practicums including:  applying/removing a gauze, muzzle/restraint, wrapping a surgical gown, canine CPR and preparing an animal for surgery.
