Autism Spectrum Disorder
Welcome to the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) web page of the Orange County Public School District. The autism spectrum encompasses a broad range of learners with specialized needs. Orange County Public Schools has an array of educational services to ensure that students on the ASD spectrum receive their education with their peers without disabilities, in the educational placement most appropriate for their individualized needs. Students on the ASD spectrum are expected to access, participate and make progress in the standards-based general education curriculum. Every effort is made to educate students in their home school, alongside their peers without disabilities, however, the educational setting is ultimately determined by the IEP team based on careful, individualized analysis of student needs.
Goals for this site are to provide:
- Current information about OCPS' educational services for students on the spectrum.
- Links to helpful school district, community, state, and national resources for parents and educators.
- Answers to frequently asked questions about ASD and OCPS.
