OCPS Parents of ESE students - Please read the following:
About:
The Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) has recently instituted a new ruling that requires districts to distribute written notification on an annual basis informing parents that under IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) they are to obtain a one-time parental consent prior to disclosing personally identifiable information maintained in student’s education records. This notification is required in order to receive Medicaid reimbursement for health-related services provided to Exceptional Student Education (ESE) students.
We must inform you that:
The District benefits from Medicaid reimbursements to support the delivery of health care services in all Orange County Public Schools. We appreciate your cooperation and support.
If you have any questions regarding this notification, please contact the OCPS Medicaid Hotline at 407-317-3420
