  • The Business Operations office supports ITS with various functions of purchasing, budget reporting, and ensuring that IT products being purchased meet ITS standards. In addition to financial support, technological support is provided to district staff through the helpdesk center, Customer Care. Other services provided through Device Management include hardware support, for students and staff, at both the school and district level.

  • The PMO area manages large technology related projects, and the governance by which projects are selected and prioritized.

  • Information Security delivers and maintains an information security program that safeguards information assets against unauthorized access, use, disclosure, modification, damage or loss. Through the use of systems, policies, and procedures the team supports the District's goal of providing a safe learning and working environment.

  • Infrastructure is a high-performing and dedicated team of IT professionals who provide a wide range of support services for the district in areas such as data center and cloud server, network and internet connectivity, applications, and devices.

  • This section of ITS is comprised of three areas:  Applications, Enterprise System Administrators, and Web Services. The Applications area is responsible for both school and business software application development for the district. They're also in charge of the integration between different systems to ensure seamless communication and reporting capability. The primary function of Enterprise System Administrators is to manage the District's business system environments - SAP and EDW. They also provide technical support to the Applications team, Business Areas, Business Analysts, and End Users. Web Services collaborates with the staff at school and district levels to ensure custom web applications and SharePoint are meeting their needs.

  • The Student Information Systems (SIS) Department is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, support, and training of the district’s K–12 student information system — Skyward. This includes oversight of critical modules such as enrollment, scheduling, attendance, graduation tracking, and academic reporting. The department also manages Educator Access (teacher portal), Family Access (parent portal), and Student Access (student portal), ensuring seamless engagement across all stakeholders.

In addition to Skyward, the SIS team supports data integration with approximately 100 connected systems, ensuring that student source data is accurately and securely shared across platforms. The department also developed and manages the Student Hub of Education Data (SHED), a centralized reporting platform built on Skyward data that delivers timely, actionable insights to support district-wide decision-making.

As of recent, the department also oversees the Post-Secondary Student Information System, Focus School Software, which supports technical colleges and adult education programs across Orange County. This includes managing student records, course scheduling, attendance, tuition payments, and reporting functions tailored to the unique needs of post-secondary education. The team ensures that Focus is aligned with state reporting mandates and integrates effectively with other district systems.

The SIS Department collaborates with business process owners to align system configurations with evolving educational and operational needs. It plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with state statutes, school board policies, and Florida Department of Education (FDOE) reporting requirements. The department is led by the Senior Director of Student Information Systems and includes a team of analysts, developers, and support staff who work collaboratively to ensure the SIS infrastructure meets the dynamic needs of students, educators, and administrators across both K–12 and post-secondary environments.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Leading the development and enhancement of enterprise student applications.
    • Supporting modules such as student registration, demographics, school assignment, scheduling, attendance, behavior, gradebook, report cards, and test scores.
    • Managing system upgrades, user training, and technical support.
    • Ensuring data accuracy and integrity for state and federal reporting.
    • Identifying and resolving operational inefficiencies through system design and process improvement.
