The School Board of Orange County held its regularly-scheduled board meeting at 4:45 p.m. at the Ronald Blocker Educational Leadership Center. These are the highlights of the meeting:

Strategic Plan Update
School Board members were given an update on the district’s Parent and Family Engagement. The presentation outlined the values, objectives and goals related to outreach by Orange County Public Schools through central office supports and event to school-based parent engagement and communication. The central office supports include outreach by Professional Learning, Curriculum and Digital Learning, Exceptional Student Education, Multilingual Services and Students Services. The entire presentation can be viewed online which also includes additional information on school-based parent engagement and communication.  

Proclamations adopted and added for recognition during the month of November 2021
Holocaust Education Week, Nov. 8-12
National Philanthropy Week, Nov. 15-19
American Education Week, Nov. 15-19
National Education Support Professionals Day, Nov. 17

Changes regarding administrative personnel
Superintendent Barbara Jenkins introduced the following new administrators:
Karen Hall, assistant principal, Rock Springs Elementary
Joshua Torres, assistant principal, Killarney Elementary
Melania Perez Cedeno, assistant principal, Lake Buena Vista High
