At today’s School Board work session, the Orange County School Board reviewed the financial resources of the Exceptional Student Services audit.
Today’s presentation focused on the sources of funding, as well as how the district spends and supplements the ESE budget. The complete audit focused on use of financial resources, professional development, use of paraprofessionals and the individualized education plan process.

Additionally, Superintendent Barbara Jenkins read the board a letter she addressed to Richard Corcoran, the Florida Commissioner of Education, requesting the FLDOE to once again waive the testing requirements, citing COVID-19 disruptions to student learning.
Moreover, Chair Teresa Jacobs read a draft letter she and the superintendent will send to state lawmakers regarding pending legislation that will impact students and school library and instructional materials. They stated that OCPS values all students and cautions against the proposed changes. Letters available upon request.
