The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act is a federal act that supports children and youth who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence.  If a student and his or her family meet the McKinney-Vento definition and are currently residing in a shelter, motel, vehicle, campground, streets, abandoned building, or doubled-up with family or friends due to hardship, then he or she may be eligible to receive services.

Families lacking fixed, regular, and adequate housing, can contact their school and speak to the school based McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Coordinator.  For additional questions or concerns, families can contact the district level McKinney-Vento Program at 407-317-3485.

Please note that families must register for the McKinney-Vento Program (MVP) each school year as MVP status does not roll-over from year to year.  Open enrollment for MVP begins two weeks prior to the start of the school year.
