The Walt Disney World Resort recently presented OCPS with a $100,000 contribution toward STEM education. The award was announced with the help of Mickey and Minne Mouse during a community night at Disney’s Contemporary Resort that recognized OCPS and other Central Florida organizations. The celebration included Mickey and Minnie Mouse
“We can always count on Disney to provide for our schools and students in innovative, fun and thoughtful ways,” said Orange County Public Schools Superintendent Maria Vazquez. “This generous gift will help our teachers bring science to life in the classroom and provide our students with experiences they’ll treasure for a lifetime.”
OCPS values the longstanding partnership with Disney and the invaluable contributions they have made to help support public education. The $100,000 will allow OCPS to further enrich students in STEM education and lead them to success.
The STEM-themed event was a tie-in to Disney’s new TRON Lightcycle Run attraction at the Magic Kingdom. Guests, including Dr. Vazquez, got to ride the roller coaster before it officially opened to the general public.
