The School Board of Orange County held its regularly-scheduled board meeting at 4:45 p.m. at the Ronald Blocker Educational Leadership Center. These are the highlights of the meeting:
School Board honored the graduating class of Leadership Orange
Leadership Orange is a group of community members who get an inside look at our public school system. Participants visit schools and classrooms, meet principals and bus drivers, plus the leadership that sets the vision and strategies for giving Orange County children (and adults) the best education to lead them to success. Members of this year’s Leadership Orange Eleven Class came from all over the district, representing many unique interests and diverse backgrounds. The 2021-2022 Leadership Orange graduates are: Erin Baker, Arlene Blake, Cynthia Cardenas Schwetizer, Sandra Fatmi-Hall, Mercedes Fonseca, Angela Garcia, Erin Grimmer, Natalie Houston, Daniel Ings, Jennifer Knopf, David Lewis, Priscilla McCann, Stewart Parker, Limarys Rivera, Leonard Spencer, Melissa Sposato, Curtesa Vanderpool, Christina Vu, and Julia Young.
Addition Financial presents the School Board with its annual affinity debit card check
Since 2009, Orange County Public Schools has partnered with Addition Financial Credit Union for the affinity debit card program. With every OCPS affinity debit card transaction, Addition Financial donates money to our district. This year’s transactions brought $66,265.77 to Orange County Public Schools.
School Board proclaims May 11 as National School Nurse Day
School Board members proclaimed May 11, 2022 as National School Nurse Day in Orange County Public Schools. OCPS utilizes the support and expertise of school health assistants, licensed practical nurses and nurse practitioners to provide an array of health services to our school community. These services help students and families receive the medical care and assistance needed for a successful educational experience.

Strategic Plan Update
School Board members received an update on the district’s Advanced Studies Participation and Performance for the 2020-2021 school year. The Advanced Studies Department within Curriculum and Digital Learning, directly supports the OCPS 2025 Strategic Plan Objective of High Expectations for Student Learning, by supporting students and teachers through increasing participation and performance in meaningful accelerated pathways including Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) and the Cambridge Assessment International Education (Cambridge AICE) program.
