School Board Rule Development Workshop on district policies

Orange County School Board held a Rule Development Workshop to review board policy revisions on the following:
 
JICK - Threats
This policy is being revised to be consistent with the Florida Department of Education, Office of Safe Schools, model policy regarding threat assessment teams and to include threats of self-harm. Revisions are to existing policy language including legislative updates, content, formatting, and terminology edits, consistent with statutory language and the model policy.

Policy BEDH - Public Input at School Board Meetings
The district is suggesting minor changes to "B" policy content, formatting and terminology as it pertains to school board governance issues such as board elections and officers, meetings, executive sessions, procedures for public input, and board member liability insurance. The Board briefly discussed Policy BEDH during the time available for this work session.

Next steps: Discussion will continue on both subjects at future work sessions. All proposed changes will move to a formal public meeting for discussion and vote on a date to be determined.
