OCPS News Release

Orange County Public Schools and the Florida Department of Health in Orange County announced to parents and staff of Timber Creek High School that they will shift the entire school to LaunchED@Home starting Thursday, Oct. 22. All face-to-face students and staff members will return to campus Thursday, Nov. 5.

This decision is out of an abundance of caution after being notified of 14 positive COVID-19 cases. The FDOH has traced most of the positive cases back to events in the community that are now impacting the school with more than 200 quarantine letters being issued. During this time, the entire campus will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected as the health and safety of everyone is a top priority.

In addition, the Department of Health will offer free COVID-19 testing at the school. This is exclusively for Timber Creek High School students and staff. Families are encouraged to take advantage of this precautionary screening opportunity.
As of right now, there will be no athletic events, extracurricular or co-curricular activities with the exception of varsity football. All football players, coaches and trainers tested negative during their last round of testing and have since remained in their learning cohort.

Timber Creek will not be serving meals during the two weeks. Breakfast and lunch are still available for students at any school, with the exception of Timber Creek, Monday, Oct. 26, 2020.

Distribution times are:
Elementary and K-8 Schools (3:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.)
Middle Schools (4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.)
High Schools (2:50 p.m. – 4:20 p.m.)
