Orange County Public Schools is committed to supporting employees by connecting them with affordable housing opportunities, workforce housing programs, homeownership pathways, and housing assistance resources throughout Central Florida. Through partnerships with housing providers, developers, and nonprofit organizations, OCPS employees have access to resources designed to promote housing stability and long-term financial well-being.

Affordable Rental Housing Opportunities

Many housing providers throughout Central Florida offer affordable and workforce housing opportunities for eligible OCPS employees. Several communities also provide incentives and discounts specifically for OCPS faculty and staff.

    Habitat for Humanity Partnerships

    Habitat for Humanity tackles the affordable housing crisis by developing partnerships, pursuing resources, building quality homes, and educating future homebuyers for success. Programs may include homebuyer opportunities and free financial literacy courses through the Financial Academy.

    Habitat for Humanity Winter Park-Maitland is partnering with OCPS on an employee-focused homeownership project in Winter Park.

    OCPS Habitat for Humanity Employee Housing Initiative

    OCPS and Habitat for Humanity of Winter Park-Maitland are partnering to construct five single-family homes exclusively for Orange County Public Schools employees. The proposed location is vacant land on the northern boundary of OCPS property at 901 W. Webster Avenue in Winter Park.

    • OCPS would retain ownership of the land.
    • OCPS employee families would own the home structure.
    • Habitat for Humanity would determine the selected partner family based on Habitat International criteria and income qualification requirements.
    • Habitat would fully fund construction and completion costs for each single-family home.
    • Habitat would commit to constructing a minimum of one new single-family home per year.
    • Volunteer building opportunities may include OCPS staff and OCPS high school students.

    City of Orlando Parramore Homeownership Opportunity

    The City of Orlando will offer eight newly constructed homes in the Parramore area to first-time homebuyers at a reduced price. This opportunity will be shared with faculty and staff at the following OCPS schools:

    • Rock Lake Elementary
    • Catalina Elementary
    • Jones High School
    • Memorial Middle
    • Washington Shores Elementary School

  • Housing Assistance

    OCPS is working with community partners to help employees who may be experiencing housing instability. The goal is to provide early support, connect employees with appropriate resources, and help employees remain safely housed and working.

    Need support? Employees facing housing instability are encouraged to seek help early. Housing assistance resources may include rental assistance, housing counseling, mediation, and referrals to legal support.

    OCPS Housing Stabilization Program

    Supported by the TD Charitable Foundation, the OCPS Housing Stabilization Program is designed to provide early support to employees facing housing instability and help prevent eviction before it occurs.

    • Serves OCPS employees facing housing instability.
    • Designed to support approximately 240 employees.
    • Focused on keeping employees stably housed and working.
    • Combines short-term assistance, counseling, mediation, and referral-based support.

    Available Housing Stability Services

    Emergency Rental Assistance

    Short-term rental assistance may be available for eligible employees who are experiencing housing instability or are at risk of eviction.

    HUD-Certified Housing Counseling

    Housing counseling can help employees understand housing options, plan next steps, and connect with appropriate support services.

    Landlord-Tenant Mediation

    Mediation services may help employees and landlords work toward solutions before housing concerns become a crisis.

    Legal Aid Referrals

    Employees may be referred to legal aid resources for additional support with housing-related concerns.

    How Employees Can Prepare Before Requesting Help

    1. Gather lease, notice, rent balance, and payment history information.
    2. Identify the immediate housing concern, such as past-due rent, eviction notice, or housing instability.
    3. Ask about available housing counseling, rental assistance, mediation, and referral options.
    4. Respond promptly to any requests for documentation or follow-up information.
